It's early Saturday morning in the Morar slum community of Gwalior. Before the sun has even reached its peak, a line of eager children has formed outside the community center. They aren't waiting for food or toys—they are waiting for notebooks.
Our flagship education initiative, Project Chanakya, crossed a major milestone this month. We successfully distributed complete school kits to over 200 children across 4 different slum communities.
The Hidden Barrier
When we talk about the barriers to education in marginalized communities, we often think of tuition fees or the need for children to work. But there is a much quieter, more insidious barrier: the lack of basic study materials.
"A child cannot learn to write if they do not have a pencil. It sounds simple, but for families struggling to buy dinner, a 50-rupee notebook is a luxury they cannot afford."
This is where Project Chanakya steps in. Each kit we distributed this month contains 10 notebooks, a geometry box, pens, pencils, erasers, and a durable backpack. It is everything a child needs for a full academic year.
Looking Ahead
The smiles on the children's faces when they received their fresh, blank notebooks were unforgettable. But the real work begins now. Over the next semester, our volunteers will continue to visit these communities, running weekend tutoring sessions to ensure those notebooks are filled with knowledge.
We want to extend a massive thank you to our donors and volunteers who made this distribution drive possible. If you'd like to help us reach our next goal of 500 children, consider making a donation today.

This is incredible work! I volunteered during the assembly drive and it was amazing to see how much care goes into each kit. Proud to be part of Uttejana.
So happy to see the foundation growing. How can I nominate a specific community in the outskirts of the city for the next distribution drive?
